NHS Application

NHS applications go live on Monday, September 2, 2024 and are due by 11:59 pm on Friday, October 4, 2024. No late applications will be accepted. Please consider your application carefully as the Faculty Council has only your application and any anecdotal information provided by faculty to go by. They do not conduct any follow up interviews, nor can they consider any information left off the application but revealed at a later date. What you present is only what will be considered.

An information meeting will be held Thursday, September 5th, 2024 at 7:30 in the South Journalism lecture hall for all interested parents and students.

We've provided a sample application here; please note that this sample application has both good and not-so-good entries. Can you differentiate between what NHS is looking for and what should be omitted?

You will find a checklist for your application below as well as on our Schoology page.

Finally, please familiarize yourself with the Application Rubric. This rubric is a rough guide to how our Faculty Council considers your application and serves as a guideline, not as a firm measurement. It is exceedingly difficult for applying juniors to score 3's and 4's on every criterion, so do not pad your application. Instead, give an honest assessment of your accomplishments. Any extenuating circumstances you can document in your application essay.

As always, please talk with Dr. Drew directly if you have any questions or need clarification.
