Elective Course Offerings (ACT, Journalism, World Languages)

ELECTIVES

GRADUATION REQUIREMENT: All students are required to pass a minimum of 7.5 credits of Electives to graduate.

When graduation credit requirements are satisfied, additional courses completed in that content area will be delegated an Elective credit.

Electives are broken into the following categories:

  • ACT Prep
  • Journalism
  • World Language
    • The Missouri Seal of Biliteracy is awarded to graduating high school students in districts who have demonstrated achievement in English, a language other than English and sociocultural competence. Students who demonstrate proficiency in English and one or more World Languages will be eligible to receive this honor. The KHS transcript will be notated with the Seal and a number of Missouri universities have endorsed the seal by offering college credit hours. For more details see your grade level counselor.
    • NOTE: The study of world language leads to the development of skills that can be very rewarding in securing employment, in study and research in college, in understanding other peoples and their cultures, and in traveling. Learning such skills requires self-discipline and serious application on the part of the students. World language study can result in better study habits and methods that will prove useful in other subject areas.

Courses with a * have college credit available
Courses with a † are also available as a Virtual KHS PeLA course
