What's new for 2025-26?
NEW Course Offerings
- Musical Theatre (Fine Arts) is a new Performing Arts offering combining singing, acting and dancing.
- Teaching and Learning Cohort (Practical Arts) is a 2 credit, year-long offering to explore the teaching profession.
Course Changes
- B.A.S.E.-L.E.V.E.L.-U.P. (Social Studies) is the new name for our Social Studies course focusing on black history.
- Cadet Teach (Other Miscellaneous Opportunities) can now be used for up to 15 hours of tutoring or mentoring towards the A+ Program requirements.
- Anatomy & Physiology I and II (Science) will be available, pending approval, for dual credit from Missouri State University.
- Precision Machining Technology I and II (Practical Arts) will now be split into two semester long courses rather than a single, full year course.
- Woodworking and Carpentry I and II (Practical Arts) will now be split into two semester long courses rather than a single, full year course.
- GR 9 Study Block (Other Miscellaneous Opportunities) was previously called GR 9 Academic Support.
Courses on Rotation
ENGINEERING (Practical Arts)
- Computer Integrated Manufacturing - Robotics (CIM) will be available for 2025-2026.
- Digital Electronics (DE) won’t be available until 2026-2027.
SOCIAL STUDES (Social Studies)
- AP World History: Modern will be available for 2025-2026.
- AP Human Geography won’t be available until 2026-2027.
Change to Credit Category Requirements for Graduation
Starting with the class of 2027, KHS students will be required to take one full practical art credit to graduate. The total number of credits (24) has not changed. This requirement is set by the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education.
Dual Credit Reminder for 9th grade students
It is strongly recommended that 9th graders wait until their sophomore year to take a class offered for dual credit. Per the state of Missouri, freshman are required to have taken the ACT and scored in the 90th percentile to meet the state’s requirements.
